Ideally speaking investment bankers are specialists, certified in their skills to provide expert advice on financial matters to their clients. The kind of text that they like and are inclined to study for prolonged periods of time are the financial markets (depending upon the geography), the extent of exposure that the investments have attached to them combined with the macro and micro-economic conditions which are taking place in the country/internationally.
As far as the skills set goes, certification courses in investment banking deploy various strategies that render the teaching of equity and debt funds effective. But it doesn’t end there, if anything, consider it to be just the tip of the iceberg. Acquiring other businesses, planning on building policies that focus on mergers, or even if it purchasing the major/considerable amount of shares of a business, it all comes down to the people who have taken up the investment banking jobs. research forms a substantial part of their day because the proper assessment of the investment has to be made so as to advise on concrete grounds.
But since we are discussing a bankers’ key responsibility areas, then capital structuring also happens to be one them. Not to forget the portfolio management which has created a parallel of its’ own.
To be branded this designation an individual must procure one or the other certification courses in investment banking.
The pre-requisites include completing a CFA or CA credential. For that matter, Company Secretary experts, CTMs as well as CPMs are eligible to nourish their acumen with an accredited certificate.
Students that have successfully completed their masters in mathematics/statistics/economics can pursue such a career as well.
But a fundamental question that arises is that, how should a person put his/her finger on one institute over another. what should be parameters on which such a choice should be made.
Just to save the reader a tons’ worth of research time, we introduce you to the Investment Banking Council of America (IBCA).
After years of consultation with industry leaders and insiders, IBCA has founded two groundbreaking certifications which are monumental in their effects on the career of a promising investment banker.
Certified Investment Banking Professional – Built for the graduates who are either looking for or have successfully found one or the other investment banking roles out there. While the experience is not mandatory, the course is open for associate level employees working at an investment bank. After checking the eligibility, interested people can fill the online application. Once meeting the approval from the backend experts of IBCA, you can make the payment for the certification material. People would receive their training kits.
Senior Investment Banking Professional – Meant for the people who after their graduation in finance/mathematics/accounts/economics have been working in an investment banking firm. Experience is mandatory. In fact, the structure is designed in such a manner that professionals below 5 years of experience would find it hard to cope with the use cases. The registration and examination processes for this credential remain the same as that for the previous degree.
